Oh, Vienna. You are iconic. I am besotted with your people and your baroque edifices set against sunlight filtering through secret courtyards. Your clouds are framed against some pretty epic stage lighting by Mother Nature. It was on foot that I found you, wandering through dusk on your famously curved streets. Dipping into cafes filled with wine and the scent of you: the coffee, the poppyseed Eis, and that specific ‘exotic’ that accompanies an evolutionary sense of familiarity within your foods. You are the petricore against my skin, the taste of spritzs on balconies and the subtle sweetness of the lush vineyards you’re tucked against.

But perhaps most importantly, you remain a sanctuary of reinvention- a city where one can decide if they want to change the world or to be changed by it.

Starting this Monday off noodling on previous harvests and bottling and the grinding joy of it all.
There’s the business side of our industry but the other side of that is being an artist. An artist who with each yield, each bottling, each single sale we allow for our own redemption. We pour our ideas into glass and put all of it out there for the public, and to the whim of Mother Nature and Papa Econ. Your glass might go quickly, but I promise you- we never stop thinking about what was in that glass. How we recreate and reinvent it; and if really, we’ll ever actually be able to do so?
Luckily, we have other artists to provide us the context we need. So in the words of Louise Gluck, “If you missed a year, it doesn’t matter. The hills aren’t going anywhere, the thyme and the rosemary keep coming back, the sun keeps rising and the bushes keep bearing fruit….” #wine #california #keepsupporting

I fell in lust with these wines a very long time ago but that’s not why I’m keen on them. Lust is easy to come by. What’s harder is that, well, I genuinely enjoy them. @winemiker sorry it took me so long to try this. She’s fucking lovely.
